About DOPPLeR
DOPPLeR's music follows in the tradition of French noise/math rock/post-hardcore from the 2000s, with tense, dry, angular compositions.
Their sound is based on a massive, distorted bass, often in repetitive patterns, a sharp guitar with sharp attacks and abrasive saturation, and very physical drums, marked by sudden breaks, asymmetrical measures, and pressure builds typical of the genre.
No decorative arrangements, no superfluous effects : DOPPLeR works with raw sound material, similar to what Unsane, Shellac, The Young Gods, or certain bands from the Skin Graft/Touch & Go stable might offer. The vocals—spoken, chanted, shouted—emerge at times, like an extra layer of tension.
In concert, the band develops a dense, direct, and precise sound, without uncontrolled excess: a clean, constructed rhythmic wall, supported by the band's historic front-of-house work (sound engineered by La Fraise) and lighting designed for impact. You don't come here for contemplation: you come here to experience music that hits, pushes, shakes, and stays in your body long after the concert is over.
Founded in Lyon in 1998, DOPPLeR brings together Xavier-Alexandre Amado (bass, vocals), Yoann Brière (guitar, vocals), and Yann Coste (drums, vocals).
Between 1999 and 2008, they released EPs, splits, and albums that became benchmarks: from their first EP 51 to their collaboration with NED, via Star Sexual Fantasy, then their two albums Si nihil aliud (2004) and Songs to defy (2008), recorded at Black Box studio with Peter Deimel.
The band forged its legend through live performances: 200 concerts in France and Europe, sharing the stage with Sleeppers, Marvin, Pneu, Young Gods, Shipping News, Fishbone, Unsane, A Place To Bury Strangers, and many others. Their reputation as a live band was built on their massive sound, total commitment, and radical aesthetic.
After taking a break in 2010, DOPPLeR was reborn in 2020 for “the 10th anniversary of its death” with a sold-out concert at the Ninkasi Kao (Lyon), followed by a twenty-date tour and acclaimed vinyl reissues on Bigoût Records.
In June 2025, the band recorded a new album, Pourquoi ce disque? (Translate : Why this record?), once again at Black Box with Peter Deimel.

This highly anticipated comeback reaffirms the band's place among the most influential noise bands on the French scene.
